In Android, Whatsapp will automatically back up your message history at every night between 3 AM to 5 AM. It will store that backup in the whatsapp folder. If your device is having an external SD card then you will be able to find whatsapp folder in it.

There are two ways to recover your important deleted messages. The first one will restore your most recent backup, and the second method will recover old whatsapp messages.

Steps to restore your recent backup:-

1. Go to your device settings and clear data of Whatsapp
2. Again enter your Same Number and signup.
3. You will see option to Restore
4. Click Restore when prompted to restore your chat history
5. Wait a few seconds
6. Enjoy!

To restore a old backup

Your phone will store up to the last 7 days of local backup files (Google Drive will  have the most recent one). If you wish to restore a backup which is old, you will need to follow these steps :-

1. Download a file manager. Here Is The Best File Manager! Click Here!
2. In the File Manager, go to sdcard/WhatsApp/Databases. If your data is not stored on the SD card, you may see internal storage or main storage instead of SD card.
3. Rename the backup file you wish to restore from msgstore-YYYY-MM-DD.1.db.crypt12 to msgstore.db.crypt12. It is possible that your earlier backup may have been on an earlier protocol, such as crypt 9 or crypt 10. Do not change the number of the crypt file.
4. Uninstall Whatsapp.
5. Install Whatsapp 
6. Tap Restore when asked.
